What is an Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC)?
UTCs look after patients with an urgent minor injury or an urgent minor illness which is not critical or life threatening. e.g. sprains, broken bones, bites or stings, as well as assessing and treating wounds.
Whilst patients can walk-in to UTCs, the preferred access route will be through NHS 111 to enable patients to be directed to the most appropriate service for their need (following clinical triage). Where patients do require a UTC appointment, this will be booked through NHS111 to reduce waiting at the UTC.
How do I book into an Enhanced access service ?
Routine and same day pre-bookable services are available to any patient registered in a GP surgery. Clinicians working in the service will have full access to the patient’s electronic primary care records, as long as the patient has given their consent when they book their appointment.
In line with the NHS England guidance, all patients should be offered a choice of appointment location where appointments are available, whether this is within the registered practice, or alternatively in the enhanced access service or UTC service.
I'm not registered with a local GP, can I still use the service?
If you are not registered with a GP at all, this is strongly recommended. However, if you are unregistered, or a temporary patient, or visiting from outside of West Hampshire, you can still access the service if there is an urgent need. If you call 111, your call will be triaged by Partnering Health Ltd (PHL). If needed, they are able to book clinic appointments with any out of hours provider.
TLC and Enhanced Access
We pride ourselves on innovation, and were the first local provider of direct access Appointments+ with practitioners specialising in both mental and musculoskeletal health. Appointments+ service is now closed and has been replaced with Primary Care Network enhanced access scheme. TLC Ltd is delighted to provide the enhanced access service for Romsey & North Baddesley, Chandlers Ford & Eastleigh Primary Care Networks (PCN's).
In the near future, we hope to be adding cervical screening to our services.
Thank you to our partner practices and employed staff for helping to uphold our Federation ethos of providing quality local medical services to the patients of our communities. If you have any questions about the service, please visit our contacts page.
